From the computer of Richard Pohl
March 5,1991 Title: Newcolor.Exe
Before we get too far into this Doc file you will
need to know that your ANSI.SYS device driver will have
to be loaded by your CONFIG.SYS file before the NEWCOLOR
program will work. So if you haven't already got it
installed then press (CTRL + C ) at the same time and
return to DOS and add the statement that follows to your
CONFIG.SYS file and reboot your computer. Choose the
statement that best fits in your file.
device = ansi.sys /x
device = c:\dos\ansi.sys /x
Remember: The ANSI.SYS must be loaded by the Config.sys
file before this program will produce color.
Type MUSTREAD at the Dos Prompt to read how to do
this.
First let me tell you about the Program that you
are about to try out for the first time.
It is a simple, basic screen color changer for a
more pleasant view when you are at the DOS prompt
screen. Even tho this is just a demo model of the
actual program it will give you the picture of what it
will do for you. Keep in mind that there are a possible
combination of 56 different color combinations.
This Demo will leave your DOS screen the colors on
exit of the program other than the original white on
black ( which most computers us when first booted up ).
It has no effect on the color programs which you run on
your machine and they in turn are found to have no
effect on this color change.
The registered program NEWCOLOR, will let you
change the color combinations from a Main Menu just as
this Demo does; but, it will leave the color change in
effect when you leave this NEWCOLOR program and go on to
work on some other program.
Now: for some good news.....................
If you order your registered copy of NEWCOLOR
you will see that the start up text screen has been
changed to simply read:
" WELCOME TO NEWCOLOR "

Further; If your like what you see and feel you would
like to us it on your computer; I will, for a limited
time include on the disk, 56 individual programs to do
the same little task and you will be able to put their
commands in your Autoexec.bat file to run your favorite
color each time you boot you computer. These mini
programs will be more compact and take up less room on
your hard drive. Just think of looking at that old
black and white screen when you go to the DOS prompt and
how nice it is to see color on a color monitor.
Oh yes, you must have a color monitor to run this
program. Regardless CGA, EGA, or VGA it should not
matter as long as it is color.
By the count on how many people order this Program
will let me know if I have written a useful program
that you all like, and will help me to determine if
I am justified in continuing to write Utility programs.
This will be your way of letting me know these answers.
Now; I'm sure that you have been waiting for this
part! The facts on how to get the NEWCOLOR program
and what it will cost..............................
Well, You can contact me by mail to order this program
and the 56 individual color programs by sending a
donation of $10.00 or more for each copy requested,
Add $ 2.00 for 3.5" disk.
